Murdoch College established in 2000 is co-educational, non-denominational and multicultural. With a prime location on Murdoch University campus, the College is unique in its interaction with university teaching staff, courses and facilities.
Murdoch College is organised around a Middle School and Senior College.
The Middle School: Years 7, 8 and 9
The Middle School focus on consolidating previous learning and gaining a broad-based general education with emphasis on the development of strong literacy and numeracy skills.
Special features of the Middle School
- Courses are designed to cater for individual student differences
- The GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Program offers an exciting and challenging learning environment for students in Middle School and in Year 10
The Senior College: Years 10, 11 and 12
During Years 11 and 12, much of the focus is on preparation for tertiary studies. In Year 12 students may choose to study the:
- Western Australian Universities’ Foundation Program (WAUFP)
or
- Tertiary Entrance Examination (TEE)
Year 10 is a transition to the final two years.
Special features of the Senior College
- Some subjects are studied in a lecture–tutorial mode to develop the skills needed for university
- A relaxed dress code applies for students in some years
- Students in Years 11 and 12 have access to Murdoch University Library
- Students may commence university level studies through the Advanced Placement Program
