Geelong Grammar School began with fourteen boys in 1855.

The first overseas student arrived in 1947. Today there are more than 1500 girls and boys from all states of Australia and some 20 different countries around the world at the School.

Our comprehensive and challenging programmes aim to create independent, confident learners; young men and women of integrity and compassion who will contribute purposefully to an increasingly interdependent world. Our students are willing to commit themselves to achieving their personal goals and they contribute to the relaxed and busy atmosphere of the School. Geelong Grammar has a history of educating leaders in many areas of endeavour.

The School aspires for its students:

  • to have an enthusiasm for learning
  • to develop a broad and strong base of knowledge and skills
  • to think and act with competence, objectivity and creativity
  • to, through their experience of living in a learning community, show respect and sensitivity to others
  • to show a capacity to lead, to share and to co-operate with others
  • accept responsibility and discipline
  • to find reward in participating, doing one's best and establishing life long friendship
